FOTD: Green is the new thing

Hello Lovelies,

A really long time no hear or see but I've missed blogging and the blogging community.
While I was away a lot of things happened: one of the main things was that I decided to be a pro photographer and than got an internship as a photographer at Adria Media (one of the biggest publishing houses in Slovenia - they publish Cosmopolitan, Elle, Playboy ...) and still have a blog there (in Slovene). Actually writing that blog inspired me to start blogging again.

Then what's new? I colored my hair green. Yup, you read it right: green. I get a lot of weird looks, comments and reactions but overall I love the color and how it looks on me.

In the meantime I didn't stop being a beauty freak as my nail polish collection grew bigger and bigger and I'm now counting more than 200 nail polishes *ahem*.

But let's move to my welcome back makeup. Honestly it isn't anything special. I wanted to use some purple and pink after a long time of my staple makeup (eyeliner + mascara). Too bad the red and pink aren't as pigmented as they looked like in the pan.

What I've used:

Face ♥ Catrice Photo Finish in 010 Sand Beige
♥ Bourjois blush Rose de Jaspe 95

Eyes:  ♥ Essence Wild Craft Eyebrow set
♥ Catrice Arts Collection set (purple + pink eyeshadow)
♥ Deborah 24 ore Absolute volume mascara
♥ L'Oreal Color Riche Crayon Le Khol in 101 Midnight Black

Lips:  ♥ S-he Lipstick in 458 and 326

Are you as happy as me to be back?

After a long time another FOTD. Again something simple, but lately I don't feel like doing anything too sophisticated or complicated, so I stick with simplicity.

Face: Everyday Minerals in Fawn, Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Rude

And one edited picture :)

Too bad it looks like the summer is over :/

Review: Bourjois 1001 Lashes Mascara

Hello Girls!

Today I'll show you my current mascara. I bought it because I used my previous (not-very-cruelty-free Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara) and wanted something good and cruelty free. It's very hard (at least for me) to buy a mascara without trying it (and trying those testers is more than grows), but luckily my sister had it already, so I could try it and see for myself. I liked it and that's why I bought one for myself.

The brush

What they promise you:
Say good bye to mascaras that only thicken or lengthen the lashes! Bourjois goes further and multiplies your lashes!
This high-tech mascara visually multiplies the number of lashes for a full fringe of eyelashes.. more dense, more beautiful.
The revolutionary patented double helix brush has astonishing powers: with its twelve rows of bristles, it works on every single lash, even the very smallest. In just one application, every lash is reached and fully coated from root to tip without clumping. Its lengthening, rich in pigments glide-on formula intensifies and gives maximum body to all your lashes.
Enriched with natural waxes, vitamin E and C derivatives, it is suitable for sensitive eyes.

Nice, right?
The brush really reaches even the smallest lashes, but I find that it's a bit too hard for me, because I apply my mascara from the roots (and I touch my upper waterline) and because of the material I can literally feel how it pokes me into my waterline. Not a really nice feeling. I didn't have such issues with any other mascara. (But my sister on the other hands doesn't have such issues with this mascara)

Before (nude lashes):

After (with 2 coats of mascara):

As you can see, it really reaches all the lashes and separates them well (but you have to be careful). It doesn't add volume, but it rather colors your lashes and gives them a bit of extra length.
The result is definitely very natural.

Pros
+ Nice packaging (I love the shape)
+ It gives length to your lashes
+ It reaches even the smallest lashes
+ Suitable for sensitive eyes
+ Not tested on animals

Cons
- If you'll sweat/cry even a little bit, it will smudge
- The material the brush is made of is very hard
- No waterproof edition

Overall: It's a nice mascara, but out there are definitely better ones! Bourjois has got another one (Volume Glamour Ultra Black) that is way better than this one (I love volume on my lashes). But if you're into natural looking lashes, go for it.

Price: around 15€

Review: Bourjois Bio Detox Organic Foundation

I've had this foundation for a while now and wanted to do a review ever since I bought it.
I actually bought it, because I tried the one my sister had and it was the first foundation in ages that was an exact match with my skin tone.

It's nice because it has got an ECO certificate (98.8% of the total ingredients are from natural origin, 21.9% of the total ingredients are from Organic Farming) an contains Chlorophyll (I don't think that actually helps for anything).

Ingredients: Aqua,Camelia Sinesis Leaf Water, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Cypric/Capric Triglyceride, Silca, Glycerin, Alcohol, Octyldodecanol, Simmondsia Chinesis Seed Oil,Glyceryl Stearate, Lauryl Laurate, Oryza Sativa Hull Powder, Polyglyceryl-2 dipolyhydroxystearate, Hordeum Vulgare Extract, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamae, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Benzyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Xanthan Gum, Parfum, Cellulose Gum, Citric Acid, Tocopherol, Glycine Soja Oil, Dehydroacetic Adic, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Phytate, Potassium Sorbate, Benzyl Salicylate, Camellia Sinesis Leaf Extract, Dextrin, Moringa Petrygosperma Seed Extract, Limonene
May Contain: Mica, CI 77007, CI 77491, CI 77499, CI 77891, 089MV 004-1

What they say about it:

DETOXIFY YOUR SKIN
FOR A PURE, FRESH AND EVEN COMPLEXION

This foundation perfectly evens out the complexion, minimizing pores' appearance and concealing imperfections.
Enriched with chlorophyll from plants that brings oxygen and filters pollution, it leaves the skin pure and fresh.
Its formula melts onto the skin for a no mask effect.
And... it’s good for my skin!
· Non-pore blocking, oil-free formula
· Anti-shine, natural rice powder
· Dermatologically tested

 Packaging

The packaging is a nice glass bottle with a pump applicator. The pump applicator is actually great, because you can control how much foundation you want and plus one pump is more than enough for the full face.

The texture: It's creamy, but it dries REALLY fast. That means you have to work fast or you'll be left with blotchy patches on your face.
The scent: It's nice. Baby powder-ish. Not overwhelming.
Coverage: Medium, but buildable.
Finish: Matte.
Suitable for: Oily and Mixed skin

My experience:
I actually bought it because I loved the coverage! I used BB cream now for more than a year and I completely forgot how amazing more coverage can be, especially when you have lots of acne.
But I soon realized that it isn't so great as I thought. Yes, it smelled nice, it felt light on the skin, but it dried insanely fast and showed more imperfections than before! All of a sudden it looked like I had wrinkles around my eyes, strange skin on my chin and really dry (flaky) skin on my forehead. O.o?
I soon realized that's because I had dry skin on my forehead and around my acne.
So if you want to buy this to cover up acne, don't!
Another really bad thing was the fast drying time. You can't use your fingers, because it dries up literally in seconds which leaves you with blotchy application. The only solution is using a stippling brush or mixing it with some cream or another creamier foundation.
Since I don't have oily skin, but I'm rather on the mixed/dry part, it stayed quite a long time on me (6+ hours).

Pros
+ A perfect match for my skin tone! (#51)
+ Light feeling on skin
+ Matte finish
+ ECO certificate
+ The scent
+ Isn't tested on animals
+ Good coverage
+ Oil-free formula (great for oily or mixed skin)
+ Minimizes pores
+ Lasts 6+ hours on your skin (even if you sweat a bit)
+ Pump applicator

Cons
- It dries REALLY fast
- You need a stippling brush to apply it
- It makes your dry areas look worse (and the skin around acne is definitely dry)
- Not great for hiding acne
- Not suitable for dry skin
- It makes me break out :(

Overall: I like the matching shade, the scent and the coverage, but hate that it enhances my critical (and dry) areas, that's the exact opposite to what foundation should do.

Price: 16€
Rating: 2/5

A black & white version (b&w makes everything look so polished)

EOTD: Christmas Makeup

Hello Darlings,

Today I'll show you my Christmas makeup.
I kept it simple but shimmery (I love shimmer).
I used the Sleek Makeup Storm palette for this look.

It looked a bit darker and a lot more shimmery in real life, but the camera could just capture the shimmer OR the color. So well I went for the color in this pictures.

I blame Pablo for not being able to take a full face picture :P

I used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer
Sleek Makeup Storm Palette (the darkest and the lightest shade)
Bourjois Ultra Black Mascara + Divaderme Lash Extender

FOTD: Purple Simplicity

Hi Ladies!
I did this makeup a few weeks ago, but only now I got the time to edit the pictures :)
I got inspired by the new Bourjois ad for eyeshadow, but of course without study lights and too much time in Photoshop, such effect can't be achieved.

Anyway, here is my version. :D

A black and white version, because it looked cool

And a few closeups of the eyes

The true color of the makeup (it's always a PITA to take pictures of anything purple)

An extra pic :D

I've used
Face: Bourjois Detox foundation, Elf Countouring Blush and Bronzing Powder, Essence Color and Shine Eyeshadow in Bling Bling (for the shine on my cheekbone)
Eyes: Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Coastal Scents 88 matte and shimmer palette , Bourjois Ultra Black Mascara
Lips: H&M duo lipgloss (not sure which one, since I lost it)
