Review: Zosimos Botanicals

http://www.zosimosbotanicals.com/

First impression: Spring colors! Blue, green and purple. It has all the information you need on the first page, so you do not have to seach through all pages.

Something about them: They handcraft all their mineral makeup with natural and vegan raw materials. Their makeup is not tested on animals, what I really appreciate (and I believe the animals as well). You can choose from a wide range of mineral makeup, perfumes, candles , hair care, bath & body products and even insects deterrents!

Nice idea: If you're not sure about what to get or just want to try many different things with a budget, they offer samples, minies and trial sizes.

I was sent for review:

3 x Minipinches mineral eyeshadow in Cobalt, Raspberry and Robyn's Egg Blue

3 x Full size mineral eyeshadow in Avocado, Blackberry and Moss

1 x Brow pencil in Straw Harvest

1x Eye shadow stick in Lime Shimmer

2 x Eye pencil in White Hilite and Teal

4 x Cosmetic Brushes (Bamboo Angled Eye Liner Brush, Angled Shadow Brush, Blending Brush,Round Contour Brush)

Here are the swatches:

With no flash

1st row from left to right: Blackberry, Avocado, and Moss

2nd row: Raspberry, Robyn's Egg Blue, and Cobalt

3rd row the pencils: Eyebrow pencil in Straw Harvest, Eye pencil in Teal, and in White Hilite, Eye shadow stick in Lime Shimmer

And with flash

I'll start with the Eye Shadows review

How I choose: Since they have 45 different colors to choose form it was really difficult for me to chose just a few. They all seem so gorgeous! What really helped me are their suggestions what color (and color combo) suits you accordingly to your eye color. You can find it here.

Ingredients: Mica; Iron Oxides; Kaolin.

My experience: I've tried some looks with these products and they stayed on their place for the whole day! I love how buildable they are, but the pigmentation differs from one color to another. Avocado is a more matte eye shadow and you need more product for full coverage. Robyn's Egg Blue and Cobalt are the same as Avocado. This is perfect for people who want a more subtle look, but also people like me, who love a bold, colored look, can achieve it with just a little bit more product. Raspberry, Moss and Blackberry are shimmery eye shadows and I love them! They are really pigmented and glittery. My absolute favourites are Avocado (such a gorgeous color) and Blackberry. They make a gorgeous color combo too!

Pros:

+ the package

+ mineral makeup

+ vegan

+ not tested on animals

+ 45 different colors to chose from!

+ minipinches

+ mattes are very buildable

+ shimmery colors are very pigmented

+ they blend very nicely

+ stay put for the while day

Cons:

- none found

The Pencils

Brow pencil

How I choose: They have 5 different colors for eyebrows, so it wasn't very difficult. Straw Harvest is supposed to be perfect for blondes, so I went for it.

Ingredients: Organic Simmondia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil; Organic Castor Oil; Organic Beeswax; Wildcrafted Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax; Mica; Iron Oxides; Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oleoresin.

My experience: I was really excited to try a new brow product, because brows frame your face and can change it to better or worse. The formula is creamy and it applies smoothly. It stays put for the whole day. I really like how it is very buildable, as if you apply too much, you can still brush it off (just the right amount).

Pros:

+ packaged in biodegradable cellophane bags

+ mineral makeup

+classic look

+ vegan

+ not tested on animals

+ very pigmented

+ buildable

+ suitable for blondes

+ suitable for redheads (It has a red undertone)

Cons:

- it has a red undertone that doesn't really match my brow color (I'm a natural ash blonde).
I wish there were more brow colors to chose from.

- because of its creamy formula you use it up quite quickly

Eye Pencils

How I choose: I really like the teal color and I wanted to try a white eye pencil, since it is natural and I can use it in the waterline and it won't irritate my eyes.

Ingredients: Simmondia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil; Organic Castor Oil; Organic Beeswax; Wildcrafted Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax; Mica; Iron Oxides; Kaolinite; Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oleoresin.

My experience: Pigmented, creamy and smooth application. I've used the While Hilite in my waterline and it didn't irritate my eyes. It worked great also as a highlighter! The pencils stayed put for the whole day (except for the waterline).

Pros:

+ packaged in biodegradable cellophane bags

+ mineral makeup

+classic look

+ vegan

+ not tested on animals

+ 22 colors to chose from

+ creamy formula

+ very pigmented

Cons:

- none found

Eye Shadow Stick

How I choose: I just saw the gorgeous color and I had to have it!

Ingredients: Organic Simmondia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil; Organic Castor Oil; Castor Wax; Wildcrafted Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax; Mica; Organic Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil; Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Oleoresin.

My experience: Lime Shimmer is a gorgeous green color with gold shimmer in it. Its formula is creamy and very buildable but still very pigmented in one stroke. I've tried it on and my eyes popped out! It is such a gorgeous color! But when I've applied and closed the eyes most of it went into my crease (I have extremely oily lids). So I used it as a primer and nothing went to my crease!

Pros:

+ 17 colors to chose from

+ very pigmented

+ buildable

+ creamy

+ packaged in biodegradable cellophane bags

+ very blendable

+ great as a primer

+ crayon shape

+ mineral makeup

+ not tested on animals

+ vegan

Cons:

- went really fast into my crease (oily lids)

Cosmetic brushes

From left to right: Blending Brush, Angled Shadow Brush, Bamboo Angled Eye Liner Brush, Round Contour Brush

Cosmetic brushes are essential for proper makeup application. You can achieve a more polished look with good makeup brushes.

I have quite a nice collection of makeup brushes but since I got these I stopped using the rest of my collection. The Round Contour brush is my absolute favourite as it makes makeup application in the crease very easy! The Blending Brush is great for blending (because of the size you can blend better), the Bamboo Angled Eye Liner Brush is perfect for contouring your eyes (especially for using mineral eye shadows as a liner) and Angled Shadow Brush is great for mineral eye shadows application and blending as well.

Wooah, this was a really long review :)

Review: Jenulence mineral makeup (foundation/concealer and blush)

First impression: white, professional looking page, easy to search

Something about them: They have a wide range of mineral makeup, natural mineral cosmetics and organic skincare. They even have something for men too! And what's the best part? It isn't tested on animals!

Their motto: If you can't eat it, don't use it on your skin!

I wish more companies would think like that.

I was sent a mineral foundation/concealer (full size) and a sample size mineral blusher.

The swatches:

And how it looks on skin.

No mineral foundation/concealer and blusher

With mineral foundation/concealer and blusher

Review:

Mineral foundation/concealer in Pink Ginger

How I choose: Since they have such a vast variety of colors to choose from (38!) and since you can't really go wrong with mineral foundation (unless it's too dark), I chose the lightest pink undertoned foundation they had.

What it does: Jenulence mineral foundation/concealer is for heavier coverage and foundation/powder for lighter coverage. So this foundation/concealer hides your red spots and imperfections (ha, believe me, I have lots).
As you can see from the picture above, it gives you a nice silky natural finish and an even tone. It stays put for the whole day with no corrections needed (it's even water and sweat proof).

Ingredients: titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, sericite, iron oxides, oxidized mica powder, may contain ultramarine blue.

Pros:
+ 38 colors to chose from
+ perfectly matches my skintone
+ SPF 25
+ a little goes a long way
+ waterproof
+ sweatproof (I want to look pretty in the gym AND at the beach)
+ it stays put for the whole day
+ no need to use finishing powder
+ makes your skin more healthy looking
+ matte finish
+ evens out your skin tone
+ great coverage for imperfections
+ doesn't feel like a cake on face
+ natural
+ hypoallergenic
+ non-comedogenic
+ great oil control
+ doesn't dry up my skin
+ not tested on animals
+ handcrafted

Cons
Really couldn't find any!

Mineral Blush in Currant Satin

How I choose: I believe that you can have hundreds of blushes and all will fit you (for different occasions), since all my blushes are light pink or light coral, I chose a pink undertoned sightly darker blush. When I first applied it I was really surprised by its pigmentation! Most of the blushes don't show on pictures (even if you apply a ton of it and look like a clown in real life), but this one is really visible even with flash. That is really important since I do makeup on my models as well and how does a face without a blush look like? Unhealthy and boring. I'd say if you want to apply just one makeup item, apply blush. It'll make you look fresh and awake (perfect for that moody mornings).

What it does: It gives you a healthy glow.

Ingredients: mica, titanium dioxide, sericite, iron oxides, ultramarines, and manganese violet.

Pros:
+ 23 colors to chose from
+ it's buildable
+ a little goes a long way
+ very pigmented
+ handcrafted
+ natural
+ not tested on animals

Cons:
Couldn't find any

Overall: I found two keepers!
